Domain and email

The Domain screen is where you connect your company's own web address — your domain, like yourco.in — to Webelio. Connecting it unlocks two things:

  • Business email on your domain (addresses like you@yourco.in), through the Mail product.
  • A branded portal address for your team.

Open it from Domain in the Organisation sidebar.

info

A domain is the name your business owns on the web, such as yourco.in. You buy it once from a domain registrar. This screen connects a domain you already own — it doesn't sell you one.

The two tabs

The Domain screen has two tabs:

  • Domain — enter the domain you own and start the connection. Webelio checks that it's yours.
  • DNS — the records that make email and your domain work. Webelio lists exactly what to add; this tab publishes them to your live domain.

What DNS records do (kept simple)

DNS (Domain Name System) is the internet's address book. It's the settings that tell the world where your domain's email and websites should point. To connect your domain to Webelio, a few DNS records need to exist.

You don't need to understand them. Webelio tells you exactly which records to add — you copy each one across to where your domain is managed, and that's it. At a high level they cover:

  • Where your email is delivered — so mail sent to you@yourco.in reaches your Webelio mailbox.
  • Proof that email from your domain is genuine — so your messages aren't treated as spam and nobody can send fake mail in your name.
  • Confirming the domain is yours — a record that verifies you control it.

Webelio checks each record and shows a tick once it's in place. If your domain is managed in a place Webelio can update for you, some records are added automatically.

tip

If you're not sure where your domain is managed, whoever set up your website or bought your domain usually knows. You add these records once, and Webelio confirms them for you.

warning

Getting the email records right is what keeps your business email reliable and out of spam folders. Add the records exactly as Webelio lists them, and wait for the ticks before you start sending.

This is the first step for Mail

Connecting your domain here is a prerequisite for the Mail product. Mailboxes like you@yourco.in only work once your domain is connected and its records are confirmed on this screen — you set the domain up here, not inside Mail.

Once your domain shows as connected and verified, head to Mail to create mailboxes.
