Branches
A branch is a workplace — your shop, head office or another office. Adding them matters for more than address-keeping: the state of a branch decides which local taxes apply.
Branches are step 4 of the setup wizard, and can be edited later under Settings → Branches. If you have a single site, add just one.
Adding a branch
- In the wizard, open Branches (later: Settings → Branches).
- Click Add and enter the branch name, address and state.
- Save.
The branch list shows a pin icon and staff count for each branch.
Why the state matters
Two statutory deductions are decided entirely by the state a branch is in, not by the company's head office:
- Professional Tax (PT) — levied by some states and not others, with state-specific slabs. See professional tax.
- Labour Welfare Fund (LWF) — a small state-wise contribution charged only in certain states. See labour welfare fund.
When you set an employee's branch, Webelio uses that branch's state to apply the right PT and LWF automatically. This is why branches come before compliance in the setup order — the state has to exist before Webelio can work out the local deductions.
Assign each employee to the correct branch. If someone is assigned to the wrong branch, their Professional Tax and Labour Welfare Fund may be calculated for the wrong state.
Coordinates for mobile check-in
Each branch can carry a latitude, longitude and radius. Setting these turns on geofenced mobile check-in for that branch: staff using the mobile app can only check in when they're physically within the allowed area.
To set coordinates, edit the branch and either type them in or use "use my current location" in the browser, with a Google Maps preview to confirm the spot. The radius is how far from the point a check-in is still accepted.
A branch with incomplete coordinates simply isn't fenced — staff there can still check in — so a half-finished setup never locks anyone out. See mobile check-in for the full behaviour.
